Kirkintilloch Town Hall tours offered ahead of autumn unveil
August 3 2017
East Dunbartonshire Council is inviting the public to take a sneak peek of Kirkintilloch Town Hall as renovation works enter the final furlong. The B-listed property is being transformed at the hands of Michael Laird Architects to form an art, cultural and community centre by September, stabilizing and renovating the original 1906 structure with the addition of a new build extension.
Facilities will include a ground floor event space, heritage centre, office space and kitchen, a key plank in the town’s masterplan.
Councillor Gordan Low, leader of East Dunbartonshire Council, said, "Exciting times are ahead for Kirkintilloch Town Hall - blending past, present and future in one building. The new ceiling is a case in point - the cornices were moulded from original designs and then recreated by a local company.”
Tours will be conducted on Doors Open Day this 9 September.

Kirkintilloch has been on the decline from two decades now. I cant help but think the quality of this will further erode what was once a fine town. Still im sure they will be able to convert this to another charity shop.

Sooooo heavy handed in terms of the detail and material spec. Completely lacking in finesse.
